Contributors to the Franklin Reedy Endowment
Franklin Reedy was a graduate of Queen Anne High School and the University of Washington, where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. He was deputy King County assessor and retired in 1971. Mr. Reedy died in 1975, and the School of Medicine received a number of contributions in his memory.
In the ensuing years, the School of Medicine has used the fund to benefit many students, many whom were participants in the School’s Medical Student Research Training Program. MSRTP provides approximately 30 funded opportunities for UW School of Medicine students in Seattle and regional WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho) sites to participate in a full-time, 10-week summer research project under the supervision of a faculty member.
The endowment will support MSRTP students conducting drug-abuse and addiction-related research, as well as cancer-related research.
