De Vere “Jerry” Burtenshaw graduated from Washington State University in 1956 and joined the family business. Mr. Burtenshaw, along with his wife, Angelina, opened restaurants throughout the Pacific Northwest. He later headed the international catering and concessions company Alpine-Burtco, which provided concessions to prominent Northwest locations, in addition to servicing a number of overseas contracts. Mr. Burtenshaw is currently the chairman emeritus of ABC Services.
Mr. Burtenshaw is a member of the UW Medicine Scholarship and Student Support Committee, and he and his wife created the Jerry and Angelina Burtenshaw Scholarship to provide financial assistance to medical students.
