The Dr. and Mrs. Samuel James Torney Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund was created by a gift from an estate in 1985. This fund, established through the generosity and foresight of Walter L. Neill, a resident of Seattle for many years, benefits School of Medicine students with financial need. Mr. Neill desired to establish an endowment to honor the memory of Dr. and Mrs. Samuel J. Torney, his brother-in-law and sister. Dr. Torney had been an otolaryngologist in Bellingham, Washington.
