This endowment was established in 1992 to honor the memory of Alexander Grinstein.

Dr. Alexander Grinstein was a 1921 graduate of the University of Washington, earning his bachelor of arts in Natural Sciences from the College of Education. He went on to medical school and came back to the UW to serve as team physician to Husky football players for many years. Alexander Grinstein passed away in 1984.
