Contributors to the Western Pathology Quality Assurance Association – American Society for Clinical Pathology Endowed Master’s Scholarship
The Western Pathologists Quality Assurance Association has long supported the field of laboratory medicine. The Western Pathologists Quality Assurance Association felt it was important to foster and support the programs that continue to thrive. The University of Washington set (and continues to set) a strong example of such a thriving program. Accordingly, the WPQAA set up the Medical Technology/ Western Pathologists Quality Assurance Association Endowed Master’s Scholarship in 2007, and amended the fund in 2011 to establish the Western Pathologists Quality Assurance Association Endowed Master’s Scholarship in Laboratory Medicine.
In 2015, the Western Pathologists Quality Assurance Association decided to include the American Society for Clinical Pathology, who support the importance of laboratory medicine programs, in the name of the endowment as well as to provide amendment authority.
The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is the world’s largest professional membership organization for pathologists and laboratory professionals. Their mission is to provide excellence in education, certification and advocacy on behalf of patients, pathologists and laboratory professionals across the globe. With more than 100,000 members, the society’s influence has guided the application and evolution of the pathology and laboratory medicine specialty since 1922.
