When Jennifer Hazelbrook and Dan Chidester established the Kathleen L. Hazelbrook and Dorothy I. Chidester Endowed Scholarship, they found their inspiration close to home. The couple decided to name the endowment after their mothers, Kathleen L. Hazelbrook and Dorothy I. Chidester. Ms. Chidester (who passed away a number of years ago) and Ms. Hazelbrook were both loved for their selflessness, compassion, caring and patience — qualities that also are the hallmarks of the very best physicians.
Jennifer Hazelbrook has had the opportunity to meet and learn about many medical students over the course of her 15-plus-year career at UW Medicine, and both she and Mr. Chidester have been impressed by students’ intelligence, caring and desire to serve. And so, in honor of their parents, and mindful of the fact that scholarships are a tremendous resource for those who receive them, Ms. Hazelbrook and Mr. Chidester established a scholarship for medical students at the UW School of Medicine.
