UW Medicine Advancement is comprised of more than 70 staff members, who work across the following teams:
Frontline Fundraisers (FLFs): These are major gift officers who collaborate closely with UW Medicine faculty and their donors to support clinical care and research at UW Medicine, as well as education at the UW School of Medicine. FLFs are organized into different teams, generally based on disease areas. Most of our FLFs are focused on individual gifts and we also have a Corporate and Foundation Relations team focused on institution giving from corporations and foundations.
Donor Relations: This team focuses on gift processes and stewardship to express appreciation to our donors and share the impact of their contributions.
Pipeline: This team concentrates on attracting new donors to UW Medicine and renewing existing donors. The team also leads Engage, our grateful patient faculty and clinician training program that partners faculty with FLFs to learn fundraising strategies together.
Communications: This team manages UW Medicine Advancement and UW School of Medicine Alumni Associate website properties and email programs, shares stories of the difference philanthropy makes to the health of the community, and supports the fundraising and stewardship efforts across Advancement.
Special Events: This team develops engaging experiences to connect donors with faculty and departments that benefit from their generosity.
Administrative and Finance Professionals: Our central team provides advancement coordination and financial expertise in support of all of the teams at UW Medicine.

UW Medicine Advancement provides each new staff member with a personalized onboarding program that typically spans three months. This program includes scheduled appointments with our team and project leaders, senior leadership, faculty members from UW Medicine and key campus partners. The primary objective of these meetings is to enable new staff to establish meaningful relationships with their colleagues and obtain a foundational understanding of the intricate UW Medicine system. Additionally, every new staff member is assigned a buddy from another team to serve as a valuable resource for questions and to further enhance their understanding of UW Medicine.
Career Opportunities
There are two open positions available in this job posting, both are Senior Administrative Specialists. Each Senior Administrative Specialist provides direct and far-reaching support as a trusted partner to support three leaders at UW Medicine Advancement and their teams, and lead special projects as assigned. One Senior Administrative Specialist reports to the Assistant Vice President for Pipeline Strategy and Campaign Analytics and serves as a dotted-line manager to an Advancement Services Officer. This position also supports the Associate Vice President for Strategic Planning, Operations, and Campaign and the Senior Director for Philanthropy and Acquisition. The other Senior Administrative Specialist reports to the Assistant Vice President for Campaign and also supports the Assistant Vice President for Development Marketing and Communications and Senior Director for Engagement and Communications.
The Director for Data and Reporting strategically supports UW Medicine Advancement (UWMA) in the ramp-up to and during the upcoming campaign. The Director will be responsible for overseeing a two-person data, visualization, and reporting team that serves the entirety of UWMA’s workforce. This role will have direct oversight over grateful patient fundraising data resources and infrastructure. The Director will work with the Assistant Vice President for Pipeline Strategy and Campaign Analytics (AVP) on large-scale projects and data transformations to support UWMA fundraising.
The Assistant Director for Donor Relations (Assistant Director) works with UW Medicine Advancement’s Donor Relations Team to deliver creative and inspiring stewardship offerings to UW Medicine’s donors at all levels to illustrate how gifts have impacted the work of UW Medicine and to convey appreciation and gratitude. Assistant Director will specifically be responsible for developing and executing benefit and recognition activities for our lifetime giving clubs (Benefactors and Laureates), planned gift club (The Heritage Society), The President’s Circle and UW Medicine Compass. They will ensure that “benefits” provide high-impact and personalized opportunities for members to engage with UW Medicine. They will focus on building donor affinity and making sure that our offerings meet our advancement and donor goals. There is a big emphasis on innovation, creativity and quality in the work of the Assistant Director.
Associate Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations
(Req. 247136) | $7,084 - $7,750 per month>
The Associate Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations (Associate Director) works with UW Medicine Advancement’s Corporate and Foundation Relations Team, Advancement leadership and staff, and academic leaders and volunteers, to increase private grants from organizations (foundations, corporations, associations and other types of organizations). This role has a primary focus in the discovery of new prospective organizational funders who have priorities that align with work going on at UW Medicine, but have not yet been deeply involved with UW Medicine. The Associate Director manages a portfolio of primarily major gift and grant level prospects with the capacity of making gifts or grants of $25,000 and greater.
