Information for Donors Giving to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, UW Medicine’s Cancer Program, through the University of Washington
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is a unified adult cancer research and care center that is a clinically integrated part of UW Medicine and UW Medicine’s cancer program. This integration extends to our efforts to raise philanthropic support for adult cancer research, patient care and education programs based at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and other parts of UW Medicine.
Data Sharing
We will share information about gifts supporting adult cancer programs with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, and both the University of Washington and Fred Hutch will recognize your generosity. If you do not want joint recognition or prefer not to have your information shared with Fred Hutch, please let us know at 206.543.5686 or via email at writemed@uw.edu.
Gift Assessment and Fees
Gift assessments on donations supporting adult cancer programs will be applied by the organization that ultimately benefits from the gift – either UW or Fred Hutch – regardless of where the gift is received.
For gifts directed for use at UW, a gift assessment is applied to select current use gifts upon their receipt that provides essential support to the University of Washington’s advancement efforts and institutional priorities. A 5% gift assessment will be applied to gifts that ultimately benefit work based at UW. Since 1990, endowed gifts are assessed an annual fee (between .9-1%) of the five-year rolling average market value, which supports the UW’s advancement efforts and offsets internal investment management costs.
