William and Karin Agosta retired to San Juan Island in 1998 after spending most of their lives in New York City. William Agosta spent his career at Rockefeller University, where he was professor and head of the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry and Physicial Biochemistry. Karin Agosta had a long career as an executive in the book publishing industry. In the Pacific Northwest, the Agostas have been active in community affairs in San Juan County. In addition, William Agosta served as a member of the UW Medicine Board of Visitors from 2006 to 2009, and from 2006 to present has been a member of the UW Medicine Scholarship Committee.
