Alma N. Blake Endowed Scholarship

In September 1971, the University received a bequest gift from the Alma N. Blake trust estate. The gift was used to establish the Alma N. Blake Scholarship and Loan Fund, which supported needy students with loans and scholarships for many years.
With the ready availability of government loans, and the increasing cost of medical education, students now seek scholarships, rather than loans, from the School of Medicine’s financial aid office. In 2006, the School of Medicine used the remaining money in the Alma N. Blake Scholarship and Loan Fund to create the Alma N. Blake Endowed Scholarship, a fund that will be of considerable — and perpetual — benefit to students.
