Dennis Thayer was a medical student at the UW School of Medicine in the early 1970s. Andrew Epstein attended the School in the late 1990s. Both had great promise; and sadly, both died young. Both families grieved for their sons, and took similar actions to remember them: setting up student-oriented funds for the School of Medicine. The families chose to pool their resources to create an endowed scholarship fund in perpetuity to benefit other promising students at the UW School of Medicine.
