Contributors to the Dr. Juris E. Macs Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was created to honor Juris E. Macs, M.D., an outstanding and dedicated physician who has been serving Grays Harbor County since 1969. He is originally from Riga, Latvia. Dr. Macs graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1962 and completed his residency training at the Kern County General Hospital in Bakersfield, California.
Dr. Macs represents the embodiment of the practice of rural medicine and has been committed to this community for more than 45 years and continues to practice medicine. He was instrumental in creating an Emergency Medical Service in Grays Harbor County and continues to educate paramedics. Dr. Macs has been a significant contributor to the West Regional EMS and Trauma Systems Council and has taught as a clinical associate professor of surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine. All of us who have had the chance to work with Dr. Macs have experienced and admire his incredible dedication to our great profession of medicine.
