Ms. Janice Tessin-Thuline
Born in India to missionary parents, Horace C. Thuline, M.D., was a 1953 alumnus of the School of Medicine and a clinical emeritus faculty member. Dr. Thuline was one of the first UW faculty members to conduct research at Seattle Children’s, work that was integral to establishing procedures for the diagnosis of childhood diseases. Dr. Thuline’s wife, Janice E. Tessin-Thuline, grew up in New Jersey and earned a degree in cell and molecular biology at the University of Washington while raising her children and working full time. Dr. Thuline and Ms. Tessin-Thuline appreciate the importance of education and the value of scholarship funds. In 2007, they decided to create a scholarship fund that would benefit M.D. students who have an interest in pediatric medicine. Dr. Thuline passed away in 2016.
