Dr. Jay Erickson and Ms. Meg Erickson
Dr. Jay Erickson is a native of rural Minnesota. He graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in chemistry and attended medical school at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Erickson completed a family medicine residency in Spokane, Washington in 1990 and then moved to Whitefish, Montana to join Glacier Medical Associates. Dr. Erickson, a family physician, is in active practice in a 10-physician primary care group in Whitefish.
In 2004, Dr. Erickson became the first assistant dean for regional affairs for the Montana WWAMI program for the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Erickson oversees the clinical programs for the UWSOM in Montana and helped found the Montana WWAMI TRUST program. Dr. Erickson co-chairs the WRITE program and his academic passion is in training in rural/underserved medicine.
In 1995 Meg and Jay co-founded the Shepherds Hand Free Clinic in Whitefish. Meg is the executive director and Jay is the medical director of the clinic which serves the uninsured medical and dental patients of the Flathead Valley. Meg and Jay enjoy spending time with their two adult sons and their families and grandchild.
In 2007, Jay Erickson M.D. and his wife, Meg, made a commitment to create a scholarship fund at UW Medicine. Their scholarship – which took advantage of the matching funds available through the University’s Faculty-Staff-Retiree Campaign – will benefit medical students from Montana in perpetuity.
