Mari J. and David A. Clack and James D. Clack (their son)

In creating this endowment in 2007, Mari Clack, a former University of Washington regent and arts and sciences alumna, and her husband, business alumnus David A. Clack, are paying tribute to Ms. Clack’s father, Clyde R. Jensen, M.D., a strong advocate for the creation of the UW School of Medicine. In the School of Medicine’s early years, Dr. Jensen was a pathologist and clinician-teacher at Harborview Medical Center, served as clinical professor of medicine from 1965 to 1985, and was instrumental in establishing high standards of patient care.

The Clacks’ gift to medical scholarships is an extension of their strong commitment to the University of Washington and to their communities. Both have had long, distinguished careers in business, and have made many contributions to their communities as professionals and as volunteers. Their scholarship will continue their commitment to education and community service by helping provide financial support to the M.D. students from the WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho) who need it most.
