The School of Medicine’s Endowed Student Support Fund was established by a leadership gift from the Carl J. Herzog Foundation, Inc. in 1998. The scholarship supports students demonstrating academic merit and financial need. Additional funds for this scholarship have been provided by alumni, faculty, and friends of the School of Medicine — and by another challenge gift from the Herzog Foundation in July 2003. The fund was created in response to the increasing costs of medical education and the reality that the majority of the School’s graduates must now receive financial aid to support their education. Recipients of this scholarship are known as the Odland Scholars.
