The UW Medicine Alumni Association has a three-part mission: to have members serve as diplomats and advocates in the communities where medical alumni live and work; to provide support for students, residents, and fellows through programs, scholarships, fellowships, and financial contributions; and to establish and maintain a sense of unity among alumni.
Dedicated to fulfilling this mission and inspired by the desire to participate in the University of Washington’s campaign: Creating Futures, the UW Medicine Alumni Association made a lead gift to create this endowed scholarship. The association then challenged alumni to match its gift. In the spirit of unity that underscores their commitment to their alma mater, alumni responded generously, creating a permanent legacy that pays tribute to their education while providing support for medical students in perpetuity. This endowment — combined with funds from the Medical Student Alumni Fund and the student loan fund that preceded it — stands as a lasting testament to the Alumni Association and its mission to support medical students.
