This scholarship was established by Christine and Peter Koch to provide financial assistance to medical students attending the UW School of Medicine — specifically, students who may come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds or who are the first in their family to go to college. The donors recognize the need for rural physicians in the WWAMI region, and, for this reason, it is their wish that this scholarship be awarded to students who demonstrate a commitment to service and plan to return to the WWAMI region to practice in rural and underserved communities.
