Your Generosity is Saving the Lives of Burn and Trauma Patients

Thank You!

Our teams at Harborview’s Burn Care and Trauma Care units provide world-class, life saving care for people across our region and beyond – but we couldn’t do this work without your caring support. We’re excited to share how your compassionate generosity is expanding access and improving care for all patients. Thank you!

Level 1

Nationally recognized as one of the country’s top hospitals, we’re the only adult and pediatric Level I trauma center and regional burn center in a four-state region. Your generosity ensures that the highest level of care remains available to every patient with severe, complex injuries, regardless of income or insurance status.

7,296

In 2023, your support helped us treat 7,296 adult and pediatric trauma patients — including 862 burn patients — who were admitted to our emergency room, allowing us to provide $294 million in uncompensated care.

86%

We’ve seen an 86% increase in patients with traumatic gun injuries since 2019. With your help, we’ve been treating those patients, conducting research to improve their survival rates and creating initiatives to reduce gun violence in our communities.

Your support helps fund 10 ongoing trauma surgery and critical care research projects that will lead to improved survival rates and faster recovery times for adult and pediatric trauma and burn patients.

28% of pediatric patients admitted to our Level I trauma center between 2019 and 2023 were burn patients, a rate more than double the rate for adult patients. Your caring support helps us treat these pediatric burn patients and advance educational initiatives to lower the number of burn injuries in children.

Summer is peak season for burn and trauma injuries in our communities. In 2023, 30% of all burn and trauma patients were admitted between June 1 and August 31. Your generosity ensures that our trauma and burn centers are fully staffed during these busy months, allowing us to focus on providing the best possible care to our community.
